3D pack shots for commercials and print advertisements
Another form of 3D product visualization is called a ‘pack shot’. A pack shot is what you see at the end of most product related commercials or print advertisements. It is the final shot of the product, let’s say a bottle of whiskey, standing full screen together with a tag line and its associated branding. Pack shots are basically the part where the design and look of a package are shown to the viewer so that they can associate the commercial with it as well as implement a stamp in their memory so that when they are next at the bottle store, they will recognize the bottle and buy it.
Once again this can be very costly to use a photographic team to shoot the package, so clients turn to us at Skyscape Visualizations to create a 3d version of the package to place into the pack shot area of the commercial.
Another reason why 3d pack shots are used is because elements such as special effect need to be added to the bottle before it finally comes to rest such as the J&B commercial example below. In this case, shooting the package live and adding effect to it can be extremely tricky or impossible at times. Utilizing 3d makes this very possible of course, as we are able to move and manipulate the shot so that the effects converge seamlessly with the bottle in one swift motion.
Clients always need the tag line and logo to be added to any pack shot and there is no other way to do this than the digital method, thus they have to go to a multimedia design studio such as Skyscape Visualizations. So in order to save costs of running around between the film crew for footage of the packing and back to us for text graphic, it become less costly and time consuming to let Skyscape do the tag line text as well as the pack shot all in one go.
