3D Texturing
The lighting/texturing phase is where the real artistry comes in. Each of these material samples are adjusted using our CG software packages in order to replicate what we all see on a daily basis but don’t take note of. However, when these are even slightly
incorrect our eyes pick up on it immediately, telling us that the image is fake.
What sets Skyscape Visualizations’ texturing apart from other studios?
Our artists have researched and really understand the way light works on every surface in nature based on scientific factors.
We have come to master any texture and surface from wood, tiles, paint, plastic, cloth, grass, stone, fur, water and metals - matt or gloss finishes, we’ve got it covered.
We even go as far as to set up special effects such as sub-surface scattering (SSS) in surfaces such as a candle wax or skin materials where the translucency is very slight but changes the colour when put in front of light.
Much like when you put your hand in front of a torch and it glows red around the edges. These tiny details are what count though and either make or break a top quality render.
What you can expect during the texturing phase
At this stage of the 3d production, the once grey scale 3d models are taken and given their colours and textures as described above. For property developments, samples of the paint/tile/brick/woodwork from interior designer’s mood boards, structural plans and photos are needed at this point to assist us in getting the surfaces of the visualized model to resemble their real life counter parts.
Product and exhibition stand texturing is very similar to this and require items such as the branding and logo designs as well as the colour schemes for us to recreate them identically. These are tweaked and optimized until we feel they are of a high
pre-visualization quality in order to provide our clients with a good, all round understanding and direction that we are heading towards.
